This resource is aimed at learners around the age of 16-18 years old who are studying IBDP Cold War History. It can also be adapted to meet GCSE or A-Level curriculum requirements.

This is a full lesson of work to review learning about the consequences of the Berlin Crisis to address the inquiry question how did the building of the Berlin Wall affect the development of the Cold War after 1961?

The resource has twelve pages, the first page includes an introductory activity. The second, third, and fourth pages cover the content of the crisis using inquiry based learning. The fifth and sixth pages include a mind map activity. The eighth page includes an extension activity for differentiation. Pages nine to twelve include answers and teacher’s notes.

The conceptual lens that has been selected for this class is consequence since the consequences relate and produce many unintended consequences. This class is relevant for inquiries into the Kennedy and Khrushchev era, or the Cold War in Germany or Europe.

The worksheet is available in an editable .docx format and a locked .pdf format. This should take around two forty five minute classes to deliver.

Please be advised the first four pages of activities are identical to those found in the related unit of work about Causes of the Berlin Crisis. It is recommended to choose either the Causes or Consequences unit of work, depending on whichever is most relevant to your curriculum.
