A complete, no-prep 100-mark worksheet on classification and species — ready to use for lessons, homework, or revision with KS3 Biology students aged 11-14.

Classification is the process of sorting organisms into groups based on their features, using seven levels from kingdom down to species. A species is a group of organisms that can reproduce together to produce fertile offspring, each identified by a unique two-part binomial name.

Structured across three sections of progressive difficulty: Section 1 (30 marks) covers the seven classification levels, species definition, binomial naming rules, and the five kingdoms through multiple choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank questions. Section 2 (40 marks) builds understanding through definition writing, a polar bear and brown bear classification table, vertebrate and invertebrate sorting, a horse/donkey/mule analysis task, and a five kingdoms examples table. Section 3 (30 marks) challenges students with a lion classification extended answer, a new species scenario requiring classification and justification, and a discursive evaluation of the species definition using examples. A full answer key with detailed marking guidance is included.

Also available: a companion extension pack with four enrichment activities, or save £1 with the complete lesson bundle — both listed on the iNewittAll TES store.
