Finally - a grade tracker that works the way you actually teach.

This Class Assessment Tracker is a clean, professional Excel spreadsheet designed for any K-12 teacher who wants to track student scores across tasks, periods, and the full year - without rebuilding their system every semester.

Two versions are included in your download: one organised by Terms (T1, T2, T3, T4) and one by Semesters (S1, S2). Open the one that matches your school’s reporting structure and you’re ready to go.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
DeskMade_Class_Assessment_Tracker_Terms.xlsx - 4 reporting periods
DeskMade_Class_Assessment_Tracker_Semesters.xlsx - 2 reporting periods

Each file contains:
Setup tab - enter class info and 30 student names once; all other tabs sync automatically
Overview tab - full-year heatmap showing each student’s average across all periods at a glance
Term / Semester tabs - 15 task columns per period with editable task names, task type dropdowns, and max scores
Auto-calculated Avg% - based only on tasks that have been scored (partial terms work correctly)
Grade label - Exceeding / Meeting / Approaching / Not Meeting, colour-coded automatically
Class Average row - per task and overall, across all students
Lists tab (hidden) - powers the task type dropdown menus

HOW TO USE

  1. Open your version - Terms or Semesters
  2. Go to the Setup tab. Enter your class info and student names. All other tabs update automatically.
  3. On each Term / Semester tab: type in your task names, choose a task type from the dropdown, and set the max score. Then enter student scores as you assess throughout the period.
  4. Check the Overview tab at any time to see the full-year picture - all periods side by side, colour-coded.

COLOUR CODING
Green - Exceeding (80%)
Blue - Meeting (65-79%)
Amber - Approaching (50-64%)
Red - Not Meeting (<50%)

Conditional formatting applies automatically to the Avg% and Grade columns in every tab.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM THE WRITING GRADEBOOK?
The Writing Rubric Gradebook scores students against rubric criteria (Ideas, Organisation, Voice etc.) for specific writing types. It is a rubric tool.

The Class Assessment Tracker records raw scores for any task type - quizzes, tests, essays, projects, presentations. It is a grade record tool.

They serve different purposes and work well together: use the Gradebook for detailed rubric feedback, and the Tracker as your overall assessment record for any subject.
