This engaging and thought-provoking triple lesson is the fourth in a series of lessons designed to accompany the class reading of E.B. White’s 'Charlotte’s Web’ This lesson has a particular focus on the development of Charlotte’s character, referencing key information about spiders, throughout chapters 8 to 10.

The comprehensive and colourful PowerPoint presentation (23 slides) guides learners on a step-by-step journey towards understanding the text through:
-Retrieving key information;
-Inferring and deducing;
-Applying new knowledge and facts.

The lesson contains a range of retrieval, vocabulary, inference and deeper thinking activities. For the deeper thinking task, children use an original template and information that they have gathered throughout the lesson to create a spider factfile. The template is provided in both Word and PDF format.

There is a lot of content here, so I would suggest perhaps breaking this up over two or even three lessons. The resources have been tried and tested for students in years 3-4, but may be adapted for other age groups, depending upon the individual context of the school and students.
