In this activity, students will examine the four main causes of the First World War through the MAIN acronym: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. They will also explore how these causes came together in the real world through the Moroccan and Bosnian Crises, gaining a clearer understanding of why a single act of aggression had the potential to draw most of Europe into war by 1914.

It has 11 questions for students to answer, as well as a paragraph response section for them to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.
