Unit 1.1 — My Home (Mi casa) · Spanish

A complete EPI-style unit (70 slides) built around the topic of home, rooms, furniture, household appliances, and daily activities at home. It follows the MARS EARS sequence through modelling, receptive processing, and structured listening, moving learners from input to independent comprehension.
Core language.

The unit is anchored on a sentence builder describing a traditional house: rooms and layout (arriba/abajo, dormitorios, salón, cocina), furniture and objects (cama, armario, estantería, alfombra), appliances (microondas, lavaplatos, calefacción), the outdoors (jardín, balcón, terraza, flores), and home activities (escuchar música, leer, cocinar, jugar a un videojuego). It also brings in family (hermanastro/a) and household rules. A dedicated vocabulary slide groups around 70 essential words into seven themed sets, plus key verbs and connectors (soler, permitir, disfrutar de, porque, aunque, por lo general).

Lesson 1: Modelling. Quick translation on mini whiteboards, faulty echo, a sequence of “this or that?” discrimination tasks, spot-the-error sentences (missing verbs, articles, agreement), and a probable/improbable sense-checking activity.

Lesson 2 and 3: Receptive processing (listening & reading). Missing-letters dictation, a “find the Spanish for” scanning task, full reading comprehension on Paulo’s text with English answer questions, a faulty-translation hunt (find the 10 errors, with a differentiated highlighted version), and a multiple-choice grid.
Lesson 3 — Listening & consolidation. A reflexive-pronoun micro-listening gap-fill (x11), then two assessment texts: Texto 1 with True/False and answer-in-English questions, and Texto 2, a dialogue, with Spanish multiple-choice and short-answer comprehension. Both include answer keys.
Audio files included

Lesson 4: Narrow Translation

Lesson 5: Grammar tasks

Lesson 6 and 7: Spontaneous activities + Range of custom made past papers available, matching the exact same format of the IGCSE Cambridge 0530 exam. All past papers included

Pedagogy: Comprehensible input, heavy interleaving and discrimination work, spaced retrieval across the three lessons, and built-in differentiation (highlighted-mistake variants, scaffolded answer reveals). Bilingual support is provided throughout via paired English glosses.
