Global Perspectives — Stage 9 | Lower Secondary

Six ready-to-teach Stage 9 (Year 9) enquiry Challenges for Cambridge Global Perspectives — the top of Lower Secondary. Skills-led and student-centred, pitched at the highest Lower Secondary level: students construct their own research questions on a topic of their choice, select methods to test predictions, synthesise arguments across perspectives, and reach justified conclusions. Each Challenge = ~6 hours (six ~1-hour lessons), 15 files: Overview & Teacher Guide, Skills Rubric, Student Enquiry Journal, and six lesson facilitation guides with decks.

An impartial enquiry into who holds power in the world and whether global problems can be solved together. Students synthesise perspectives, evaluate approaches to cooperation and reach justified conclusions. Taught with strict balance.

Challenge 3 — Science, Ethics and the Future
Global Perspectives Stage 9: Science, Ethics & the Future
ust because we can, should we?" Students investigate the power of new technology (AI, genetics, medicine), synthesise the ethical arguments, and reach justified conclusions on how society should decide. Handled sensitively.

Challenge 4 — Energy and Our Future
Global Perspectives Stage 9: Energy and Our Future
Students investigate how the world is powered, synthesise the great energy debate (renewables, fossil fuels, nuclear), and reach justified conclusions on meeting the world’s energy needs fairly and sustainably. Facilitation guides, rubric and journal.

Challenge 5 — Truth, Media and Power
Global Perspectives Stage 9: Truth, Media and Power
A strictly impartial enquiry into how information reaches us, who controls it, and how society can protect truth and informed debate. Students synthesise perspectives and reach justified conclusions, balancing free speech and protection from harm.

Challenge 6 — Our Global Future (Capstone)
Global Perspectives Stage 9: Our Global Future (Capstone)
The Lower Secondary capstone. Students draw on the whole course to investigate the world’s biggest challenges, synthesise how they connect, evaluate solutions, and build a reasoned “manifesto for the future”. The fullest expression of all six skills before IGCSE.
