This role‑play activity helps learners practise real BSL conversations using greetings, manners, basic questions, facial expressions, and natural communication flow. It supports Module 4 of the BSL curriculum and is ideal for classrooms, SEN settings, adult beginners, and anyone building confidence in everyday signing.

Learners will practise:

  • Starting and ending simple conversations
  • Using greetings and polite signs naturally
  • Asking basic questions (HOW ARE YOU, YOU NAME WHAT, LIVE YOU WHERE, YOU OK, YOU HAPPY)
  • Responding with correct BSL structures (NAME ME…, LIVE ME…, I HAPPY / I OK / I FINE)
  • Using facial expressions and eye contact appropriately
  • Building fluency through short role‑play interactions
  • Staying within the signing space and maintaining clear movement

Includes a structured task sheet guiding learners through greeting, questioning, answering, adding manners signs, and ending the conversation. Perfect for pair work, group work, or classroom demonstrations.

Pairs well with the Module 4 Visual Reference Sheet and both Module 4 worksheets.

If you’d like the full 7‑module BSL curriculum (lectures, worksheets, visual sheets, activities, assessments, teacher guides, licensing documents), you can preview or purchase it here:
