Teacher Led Activity
HA Chn use the profile to create their own ‘About me’ sheet. They write in each of the categories, using careful letter formation and spaces between words. Help chn to begin to use capital letters at the start of their sentences.
MA Chn will each create a little ‘About me’ profile (see resources) sticking a picture of themselves and writing about their likes and dislikes with teacher helping/scribing some parts. Some parts may also be word-processed separately and stuck on.

MA Chn make their own name card by writing their name using a capital letter for the start and then small letters for the rest using correct letter formation. They choose their favourite colour to write with and decorate it with pictures of their favourite things.
LA Have name cards. Chn find their name card by listening for the initial sound of their name. Make different sounds. Chn wave or jump when they hear their initial sound

Role-play involving the telephone. Chn ring up to make appointment. Give name. Chn write each other’s names in appointments book.

Chn use letter-shaped cutters to make their name out of play dough.

Children practise writing their names and the names of a new friend

• Read Fingers and Toes (see resources) adding the actions.

• Read Titch by Pat Hutchins. Discuss how Titch feels small at the beginning but better at end.

• Chn choose favourite nursery rhymes to sing tog. Chd choosing rhyme writes their name on f/c.

• Body shapes

• What shapes can we make with our bodies? How small can we make ourselves? How tall can we make ourselves? How wide? How flat? With two of us, can we make our bodies form a square? A circle? A triangle? What other shapes can we make?

Sand
Chn write name or initial sound in trays of damp sand or play secret missions & hide names of ‘spies’ in sand pit.
