Based on the International Languages concept of AVOCADOS, this double sided language mat includes a range of vocabulary concepts that form part of any writing task at KS3 or above. Each section of language has a tiered level of vocabulary so that pupils can be challenged to improve their vocabulary gradually as they progress through terms/year groups.

AVOCADOS as per this example stands for Adjectives, Verbs, Opinions, Connectives, Adverbs, Details, OMG Phrases (Idioms), Sequencers. There is also an additional 2 rows of grammar structures in the Third Person Present Tense and a mix of Other Tenses.
