In this resource, I aim to let student know how we arrive to the formula for finding the area of a triangle.

Knowing where it comes from is important as students can appreciate how maths topics are linked together.
Also, if they happen to not remember the formula for a triangle, but know how to achieve this area: you just have to half the area of a rectangle, then it’s not only a backup in the exam, but benefits their logical skills.
