A ready-to-import AQA GCSE Design and Technology NEA rubric for MarkSmithPro, covering investigation, specification, ideas, development, making, and evaluation.

This is a ready-to-import MarkSmithPro preset for AQA GCSE Design and Technology. It is designed for teachers who want a clear rubric for NEA marking without having to rebuild the criteria, mark ranges, and feedback structure from scratch.

The preset covers:

  • Identifying and investigating design possibilities
  • Producing a design brief and specification
  • Generating design ideas
  • Developing design ideas
  • Realising design ideas
  • Analysing and evaluating

Each section includes mark bands and feedback wording linked to the AQA Design and Technology assessment structure. It gives students specific, criteria-based feedback and helps keep marking consistent across a class or department.

How to use it:

  1. Open MarkSmithPro.
  2. Import the .marksmith file from this download.
  3. Add your class list.
  4. Select the descriptors that best match each student’s work.
  5. Export or print the feedback sheets when finished.

This is not a worksheet or lesson resource. It is a MarkSmithPro project file, so it needs the free MarkSmithPro desktop app to open. I built the preset to make D&T project marking more structured, consistent, and manageable.
