Want to find a fun, cross-curricular way to teach perimeter? This lesson fuses together the history of the layout of Ancient Greek Houses with this key maths concept.

After an informative input on Greek homes and how to calculate the perimeter of both standard and rectilinear shapes, the children are challenged to design a Greek home using both their topic and perimeter learning.

There are suggestions for giving additional support to children who may require it, and challenge for those who need to be stretched.

This pack contains:

  • Detailed Maths lesson plan
  • Teaching Input Powerpoint (16 slides)
  • Answer Key for Input
  • Detailed activity instructions

Additional resources needed:

  • Squared paper
  • Pencils and rulers
  • Rooms of house pre-cut out (support)

*** ALSO AVAILABLE at a more challenging level for UKS2 ***

So great to find cross curricular Maths content! My class have loved their topic work on Ancient Greeks and linking it to this Maths objective gave it a real purpose.
