A 6 week unit where children compare the contributions of 4 ancient civilisations:
Ancient Sumer, Indus Valley, Ancient Egypt or Shang Dynasty; who made the greatest contribution to Western society?

Each lesson focuses on historical knowledge and skills from the National Curriculum (e.g. using maps to collect evidence from the past, using artefacts to collect evidence about the past, to understand concurrent historical events, to present recalled information in writing, etc.)
