This is a structured comprehensive guide to writing introductions and conclusions for Intermediate level Adult ESL Students. The lessons are based on the requirements of the IELTS exam although the concepts are applicable to any type of academic writing.

Writing a clear and concise Introduction and Conclusion is a problem most IELTS students struggle with. To get a high grade in IELTS the student must have a well-structured essay that answers the question with a concise introduction and conclusion. This resource looks in depth at the key features of an Introduction – paraphrasing and writing a clear concise thesis statement and breaks it down into small steps with guided practice at each step.

Being able to paraphrase effectively is a challenge for language learners but crucial for achieving a higher level in IELTS. It demonstrates the ability to use the language flexibly and concisely.
