This Accessible Filmmaking resource is aimed at educators delivering filmmaking activities to learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and/or Special Educational Needs (SEN) and offers step-by-step practical guidance throughout all stages of filmmaking, from thinking about film, planning and storyboarding, to making a film and finally editing it.

Throughout the resource, there are extension activities if extra time is available or you wish to challenge learners, optional activities providing alternative suggestions, and top tips to help you support your learners and their filmmaking journeys.

This resource is accessible to learners with a range of learning styles, and, where possible, we have provided a variety of options for learners to engage with the activities – for example, through discussions, written words, sketches, pictures, images and Widgit symbols (© Widgit software 2026).
