A complete 6-week HTML club project where students learn web design by completing “hacking” style missions using HTML, browser inspector tools, hidden clues, passwords, forms, links, images, and final webpage creation.

Turn HTML learning into a fun, interactive “hacking website” challenge.

This 6-week club-style project is designed for KS3 Computer Science, coding clubs, STEM clubs, enrichment sessions, or end-of-term activities. Students work through a sequence of weekly missions where they inspect, edit, decode, and build HTML pages to progress through the game.

Instead of simply copying code from a worksheet, students are given challenges that feel like mini cyber missions. They must investigate webpages, understand HTML tags, reveal hidden information, fix broken code, use links and images correctly, enter passwords, and eventually create their own full webpage.

The project is ideal for engaging students who enjoy problem-solving, puzzles, websites, coding, and “hacker” themed activities, while still teaching genuine HTML skills.

What is covered?

Week 1 – HTML Tags
Students are introduced to basic HTML structure and common tags.

Week 2 – Headings and More Tags
Students explore headings, paragraphs, formatting tags, and page structure.

Week 3 – Images
Students learn how to add and fix images using HTML.

Week 4 – Links
Students use hyperlinks to navigate between pages and solve challenges.

Week 5 – Forms and Password Fields
Students explore forms, text boxes, and password input fields as part of the game.

Week 6 – Full Webpage Creation
Students apply what they have learned by creating their own complete webpage.
