This is a fantastic activity-based lesson, particularly for observation, in which students get a solid overview of the poem and engage in a card linking activity - HPL (Higher Performance Learning) skills incorporated.

Students use the cards to link CONTEXT – METHOD - MEANING – THE BIGGER IDEA. This is then used as a guideline for paragraph formation in essays.

I never upload anything that has not been tried and tested in my own classroom.

This lesson is great as both an introduction or a revision session.

This pack includes:

  • a visually stunning full teaching deck
  • teacher lesson plan
  • student handout
  • printable cards

In addition, if you are interested in my premium teaching packs, this one features some of the elements I include in all of those:

  • essay questions and model exemplars
  • line-by-line student-friendly analysis
  • quote bank and explanations
  • additional class activities

PLEASE LOOK FOR MY PREMIUM TEACHING PACKS FOR THIS SERIES OF IGCSE SET WORK POEMS FROM SMITHY’S BASICS

You may find you want to cover this over several lessons - I usually do.

Happy teaching and learning!
