The 2018 91 Independent School Awards were a resounding success for Latymer Upper School, which picked up the prizes for independent-state school partnership, senior school of the year and independent school of the year. Head David Goodhew (pictured, inset) says: “Winning three of the coveted 91 awards has had a hugely positive impact on our school community - pupils, parents, alumni and staff all take great pride in 91 having publicly recognised their school’s achievements.
“T 91 Independent School Awards are considered to be the most prestigious in their field. To win is a fantastic endorsement from a judging panel of highly experienced and expert educationalists. It tells the world you’re a school at the top of your game.”
Now, we can unveil the individuals and institutions in the running to emulate Latymer’s success, after being shortlisted for the 91 Independent School Awards 2019.
The awards celebrate excellent and innovative practice across the independent schools sector. And the ceremony - which will take place at London’s Grosvenor House hotel on Friday 1 February - is set to be the biggest yet. Schools and teachers can pick up prizes in 15 categories that showcase the very best the sector has to offer. From creativity to sports, the awards give schools the opportunity to highlight what they are doing to stand out from the crowd.
On the night, the pre-prep/prep school of the year, senior school of the year, and boarding school of the year will go head-to-head to be named independent school of the year. The winner of the special services to independent education award will also be announced at the ceremony.
91 editor Ann Mroz says: “Independent education in this country is truly world-class. It’s one of our great success stories. And those shortlisted for the 91 Independent School Awards are the crème de la crème.
“We received a record number of entries and the standard is the highest yet, so to be shortlisted is an extraordinary achievement for any school.”
Winning the flagship award last year has had a big impact on Latymer Upper School, Goodhew explains. “We have had more admissions requests than ever this year - the 91 awards will no doubt have validated prospective parents’ choice of Latymer as the best school for their children.”
