High Grange School is an outstanding, specialist independent school for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs. We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Science Technician/Teaching Assistant to work within our Science department as maternity cover for 12 months. There will be an option to make this role permanent at the end of the 1 year fixed term in some capacity.

This is not a typical Teaching Assistant role.

You will work closely with the Science Lead and wider team to support high-quality Science provision, alongside delivering 1:1 and small group interventions that build pupils’ confidence, understanding and independence in Science.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong Science knowledge (ideally to GCSE level or above)

• Understands (or is committed to learning about) autism and neurodiversity

• Can break down scientific concepts into clear, manageable steps

• Is calm, patient and able to build confidence in pupils over time
