About the role

St John Bosco College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning and Pastoral Support Coordinator to join our ASD Base team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and making a meaningful difference to their educational experience and wellbeing.

Working closely with the ASD Base Lead and wider school staff, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ academic progress, emotional development, and personal growth. You will provide targeted mentoring, coordinate support programmes, and ensure that every student is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality mentoring and targeted support to individual pupils and small groups, particularly those facing barriers to learning

  • Monitor, track, and review pupil progress, ensuring high expectations for behaviour, attendance, and achievement

  • Coordinate daily timetables and oversee pupil-focused administrative processes

  • Support the ASD Base Lead in planning, data tracking, and preparing for EHCP reviews and meetings

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure effective classroom support and consistent provision

  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to support pupils holistically

  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and inclusion across the school community

Why join us?

  • A proud, diverse and inclusive Catholic school underpinned by our RUAH ethos – Respect, Understanding, Affection and Humour

  • A focus on working smarter, not harder, with streamlined systems designed to reduce unnecessary workload

  • On-site gym and a programme of staff social events to promote health and wellbeing

  • A bespoke coaching programme for every member of staff

  • A chaplaincy team and quiet reflection spaces supporting both staff and students

  • Access to a free, confidential Employee Assistance Programme offering 24/7 support

Our school was judged ā€œgoodā€ by Ofsted in October 2022 and ā€œoutstandingā€ by the Archdiocese of Southwark in June 2025.  Our Roman Catholic, Salesian school, in the heart of Battersea, strives to ensure that all its young people are given the opportunity and support they need to achieve their best, fulfil their true potential and go out into the world confident and ready to ā€˜earn their own bread’.

St John Bosco College is located in the heart of Battersea a short distance from Clapham Junction and Battersea Bridge.  We are an 'outstanding' Catholic School (Section 48 inspection June 2019) rated were 'good' by Ofsted in our most recent inspection (October 2022).

At St John Bosco College we believe that there should be no limit on what our pupils can achieve and we expect everyone who joins us to aim high and always do their best. With a broad and balanced curriculum, excellent teaching, a modern purpose-built school and a caring, nurturing ethos; we provide an excellent environment where all of our pupils can reach their full potential.

ā€œSaint John Bosco is a Catholic college, but admits pupils from a wide range of faiths and cultures and these differences are embraced and celebratedā€ Ofsted

We want our pupils to work hard but also enjoy life in school.  We provide many enrichment activities; sporting, work experience, cultural and charitable; for our pupils to learn and grow beyond the confines of the classroom.  We believe that these opportunities enable our pupils to grow and develop into well-rounded young men and women who will leave here fully equipped for life beyond school.

ā€œStaff know each and every pupil and relationships are consequently highly positive.ā€ Ofsted

Our identity as a Roman Catholic school and our school’s distinctive Salesian ethos is based on St John Bosco’s vision that ā€˜it is not enough for every child to be loved… they must know that they are loved’. We provide strong pastoral support and a high level of care for every student, regardless of their background.  We are a community where everyone is highly valued as an individual.

ā€œPupils mix well in this harmonious environment and benefit from personalised support and guidanceā€ Ofsted

Whilst we are justifiably proud of our school and of the achievements of the young people who have already studied here we are equally excited about the future and the potential of the young people joining our school to achieve great things in the years ahead.

ā€œThe school’s vision that ā€˜it is not enough for young people to be loved, they must know that they are loved’ permeates the school’s cultureā€ Ofsted
