ACADEMIC INTERVENTION LEAD

Required for The Satellite Secondary School – part of The Bridge Trust

The Academic Intervention Lead will lead and coordinate targeted academic interventions across The Bridge Satellite Provision to improve literacy, phonics, reading fluency, examination readiness and wider academic outcomes for pupils.

The postholder will ensure interventions are personalised, evidence-informed and adapted appropriately for autistic and neurodiverse learners. They will work closely with teachers, leaders and families to identify barriers to learning and implement intervention approaches which improve confidence, engagement and long-term outcomes.

Contract: Permanent, Full-time Contract (35 hours per week; Monday – Friday)

Term-time Only

Salary Grade: NJC SC6, SCP 18 – 20

Actual Starting Salary: £32,514 per annum

Our story:

The Bridge Trust is a unique Multi Academy Trust which consists of five special schools, one primary school, a Training & Development Service and an Outreach Service. We are an ambitious family of schools that embraces the individuality of everyone – children and adults.

The Satellite School is part of the Bridge Trust and opened its Primary school in September 2017, its Secondary school in 2018 for Key Stage 3 and opened its Key Stage 4 provision in 2023. The school consists of two bases, a primary and a secondary, both of which are co-located with mainstream partner schools. The secondary school renovation was completed in 2023, providing a wonderful, calm learning environment.


We are a school for students with autism and follow key areas of the National Curriculum alongside a core Satellite curriculum tailored to the needs of our students. We use a positive behaviour approach which supports our students to develop the skills to become safe, independent and resilient young people.

The Satellite School is a special needs school for children and young people with autism as their primary area of need. We are based in Islington, North London and we have a primary and a secondary school located on two separate sites. Students attending the school all have an Education, Health and Care Plan and can access a modified National Curriculum. Our students require support with social communication and interaction, problem solving, anxiety, functional skills, and other areas related to their diagnosis.

At the Satellite School we nurture active minds; our students are encouraged to achieve their full academic potential and their wellbeing is at the heart of all we do. They will develop confidence in their personal, social and emotional skills equipping them to make a positive contribution in society.  Students and their families are central to our school community and we encourage positive partnerships between the two.
