Interactive Macbeth Character Analysis Tool Ages 14 to 16

Created by Aniruddha Das. Teacher Tools Studio.

No install. No login. No subscription. Works offline.

This standalone HTML app is designed to support the teaching and learning of key characters from Macbeth through structured interaction and misconception focused questioning. Built specifically for classroom use, it provides a fast and engaging way to develop character understanding with no installation, no login, no subscription and no internet connection required.

Simply download the file to your local device and open it in your browser. Everything runs locally on your computer.

Please review the screenshots and preview video to confirm the app meets your needs.

The app uses structured statement sorting activities to help pupils distinguish between accurate character interpretations and common misconceptions.

For each character and level, pupils are presented with 14 statement tiles. Seven statements are correct and seven are incorrect. Pupils drag and drop the statements they believe are correct into the answer area, encouraging discussion, justification and careful reading of character traits and behaviour.

The trial version includes 4 key characters from Macbeth. Each character contains 3 levels of difficulty. Lower levels focus on clearer and more explicit character traits, while higher levels require greater precision and more nuanced interpretation.

Characters are structured to allow teachers to revisit essential knowledge before progressing to more developed ideas. This makes the tool particularly useful for addressing misconceptions and strengthening understanding of the text.

A clean and distraction free interface helps keep cognitive load low and allows pupils to focus fully on the task. The consistent layout and interaction style make the tool accessible to a wide range of learners.

The app is flexible in use and is suitable for whole class teaching, live modelling on an interactive whiteboard, guided practice, paired discussion, independent retrieval and intervention work. It can be used as a starter activity, a mid lesson checkpoint or a targeted revision tool.

All interactions are immediate and responsive, helping lessons maintain pace, focus and engagement.

As the app runs as a single HTML file in your browser, you may need to adjust your browser zoom level slightly to ensure all controls are fully visible depending on your screen size.

This app is designed for use on desktop and laptop devices and is not intended for mobile phones.

Very intuitive and easy to use. As this is a trial version, I hope the full version will include additional features and more detailed content. One improvement would be to add a wider range of characters to increase variety and engagement. Overall, it's a promising resource.
