Progressive GCSE Spanish Higher photo card practice pack with five complete worksheets, two-photo tasks, speaking support and full answer keys.

This structured 20-page pack develops the skills students need to describe and compare photographs clearly and confidently in GCSE Spanish speaking tasks.

The five worksheets provide a progressive route from identifying basic visual information to completing a full AQA-style Higher photo card simulation.

The pack includes:

Photo Card 1 – People and place
Students identify how many people are visible, who they are and where they are.

Photo Card 2 – Actions
Students explain what each person is doing using clear and accurate present-tense language.

Photo Card 3 – Clothing, position and details
Students describe clothes, colours, objects and positions using expressions such as a la izquierda, a la derecha, en el centro and al fondo.

Photo Card 4 – Atmosphere, weather and opinions
Students add information about the weather, emotions and a simple justified opinion.

Photo Card 5 – Full Higher Photo Card Practice
A complete two-photo simulation including preparation time, a timed 90-second response and follow-up Higher conversation questions.

Students repeatedly practise a reusable speaking structure:

En la primera foto hay…
Están en…
A la izquierda / derecha…
También se puede ver…
Creo que… porque…
En la segunda foto hay…
Al fondo…
En mi opinión… porque…

Each worksheet contains:

key language and grammar
essential vocabulary
vocabulary matching
gap-fill practice with an accurate word bank translation into Spanish
translation into English
photo-evidence questions based on visible details
AQA-style photo card speaking practice
90-second speaking support
writing accuracy practice
checklist and RAG self-assessment
clearly presented common mistakes
complete answer pages in green

The emphasis is on describing both photographs, communicating enough visible information, using complete sentences and maintaining clarity and accuracy without unnecessary grammatical complexity.

Common errors addressed include:

en la foto, not en el foto
hay cinco personas, not están cinco personas
la chica lleva, not la chica llevar
avoiding invented relationships by using creo que or parece que
describing both photographs
avoiding overly complicated language that increases the risk of errors

Suitable for GCSE Spanish Higher, Years 10–11 and confident Year 9 students. Ideal for speaking lessons, intervention, revision, homework, cover work and independent practice.

This independently created resource uses AQA-style practice and is not endorsed by or affiliated with AQA.
