In this activity, students will examine the factors that brought World War One to an end in November 1918, focusing on American entry into the war, the shift to combined arms warfare, and the failure of Germany’s final offensives. They will also explore the terms of the Treaty of Versailles and consider how the punishing conditions imposed on Germany contributed to instability in Europe in the years that followed.
