Don’t know your a6 from your d7? Could you name the squares reachable by a Knight on c4? This trainer will soon get you up to speed.

Learning Mode
Students are introduced to the Chess coordinate system from a1 to h8, and they just have to click the square required. Gradually however, the scaffolding fades away to leave just a bare board.

Training Mode
Now there are no edge coordinates at all. Try to click the right square, and get visual feedback whether you are right or wrong. A speed progress bar goes gradually up from red to green as you work faster through the challenges given.

Challenge Mode
Ready for a quiz? Choose 10 or more questions for the Quiz, and then click the square required at each prompt - no feedback is given until the end, when you get points for accuracy and speed.
