WHY MILGRAM IS WORTH GETTING RIGHT
It’s the study students most often misunderstand. Obedience is described as a dependent variable, but there was no independent variable, which makes this a controlled observation rather than a true experiment — a distinction examiners test regularly. The guide is explicit about this, and about the fact that this original 1963 study did not give the “teacher” voice feedback from the “learner”; that came in the later variations.
