In this activity, students will examine the political and military developments of the Middle Kingdom of ancient Egypt, from Mentuhotep II’s reunification of the country through to the collapse of the 13th Dynasty. They will also explore how the great pharaohs of the 12th Dynasty consolidated royal authority, managed the challenge of the nomarchs, and oversaw a period of cultural achievement that influenced Egyptian civilisation for centuries to come.

It has 11 questions for students to answer, as well as a paragraph response section for them to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.
