**A ready-to-teach Year 6 maths lesson focused on solving area and perimeter reasoning problems involving missing lengths, shaded areas and compound shapes.

This lesson develops pupils’ understanding of area and perimeter through multi-step geometry problems in a range of contexts.**

This Year 6 maths lesson develops pupils’ reasoning skills through a range of challenging area and perimeter problems.

Pupils solve problems involving missing lengths, calculate the area of component shapes, determine shaded areas and apply their understanding of area and perimeter to unfamiliar situations. The lesson also includes questions involving regular polygons, rectangles made from identical squares and inverse problems linking area and perimeter.

Rather than practising straightforward calculations, pupils explain relationships between dimensions and apply known formulae to solve multi-step geometry problems.

Teachers can use the included Smart Notebook input slides to model strategies clearly before pupils complete a differentiated independent activity.

This resource is ideal for Year 6 geometry lessons, KS2 reasoning practice, SATS revision and targeted intervention.

Year 6 Area and Perimeter – 3 Lessons

**A ready-to-teach Year 6 area and perimeter bundle containing three lessons focused on missing lengths, geometry reasoning, shaded areas and applying area and perimeter knowledge to unfamiliar problems.** This Year 6 maths bundle contains three lessons designed to develop pupils' understanding of area and perimeter through increasingly challenging problems. **Across the three lessons, pupils practise:** ✔ Finding missing side lengths using area ✔ Finding missing side lengths using perimeter ✔ Working with squares and rectangles ✔ Finding the area of component shapes ✔ Calculating shaded areas ✔ Working with regular polygons ✔ Exploring how area and perimeter change when shapes are divided or combined ✔ Solving multi-step geometry problems ✔ Applying area and perimeter knowledge in unfamiliar contexts The lessons move beyond straightforward calculation and provide opportunities for pupils to apply their understanding through reasoning and problem solving. Each lesson can be used independently or as part of a wider sequence. **What's Included?** ✔ 3 complete Year 6 lessons ✔ Smart Notebook input slides ✔ Differentiated independent worksheets ✔ Plenary tasks **Ideal for** ✔ Year 6 maths ✔ KS2 geometry ✔ SATS preparation ✔ Area and perimeter intervention ✔ Mathematical reasoning *Year 6 area and perimeter, KS2 area and perimeter, area problems, perimeter problems, missing lengths, shaded area, geometry reasoning, SATS maths, Year 6 geometry, differentiated worksheets*
