Phonics Code Breaker – Initial Sounds Activity (24 Problems)

This fun and engaging Code Breaker resource helps children practise identifying initial sounds while developing early spelling and word-building skills.

There are 24 code breaker problems included. Each one features a series of pictures where children must:

Identify the initial sound of each image

Write the sound beneath each picture

Blend the sounds together to read the hidden word

Draw a matching picture in the blank box provided

These sheets can be used in small group work, as independent tasks, or laminated and added to your free-flow provision for ongoing phonics practice.
