Othello A level William Shakespeare lesson exploring Iago and Roderigo and how they are presented in Act 1 Scene 1 of the play. We look at how both characters portray Othello and the racial otherness that is generated by them at the very beginning of the play, as well as how Iago openly boasts about his duplicity and his seeming nature compared to his thoughts.

This lesson encourages discussion for A-level/KS5 students through focused questioning towards the end of the lesson after students have analysed the use of language in key extracts from Act 1 Scen 1.
