This fun and engaging dance unit is perfect for boys and girls. Perfect for students new to Dance whether they are in Year 7 or 8. Although geared towards beginner students, it has opportunities to challenge higher ability students while supporting lower ability ones. Creates a strong foundation for GCSE Dance.

Unit Aims:

  1. To be able to accurately replicate a set phrase demonstrating good technical skills
  2. To be able to define the 4 basic components of dance (ASDR): action, space, dynamics, and relationships.
  3. o be able to define the 5 types of actions
  4. To be able to develop a motif using ASDR

Assessment of Learning:

  • Large group performance at end of the unit
  • Observations against assessment criteria (provided)

  • Full scheme of learning mapped out over 6 weeks (6 hours)

  • Clear assessment criteria and scoring system to make end of topic grading easy
